# Whiteboarding

With Kanvas Designer you can draw shapes, lines, text, add custom styles, images and icons to represent the components and relationships of your Kubernetes clusters as you see fit. Kanvas supports freestyle design, meaning that you can customize the appearance and layout of your diagrams without any constraints. Kanvas also enables real-time collaboration, meaning that you can invite others to join your sessions and edit the diagrams together.

## Using the shapes palette

Open the shapes tool in the dock to browse the shape libraries and drag a shape onto the canvas. See [Adding shapes](/kanvas/designer/canvas-objects/#adding-shapes).

## Converting shapes

An existing shape can be swapped for a different one while keeping its position, size and formatting. Select the shape and pick a new outline from the shape switcher in its style toolbar. See [Configuring styles](/kanvas/designer/canvas-objects/#configuring-styles).

## Copying, cloning and deleting shapes

Context-click a shape to copy it to your clipboard, duplicate it into the same design, or delete it. See [Selecting and acting on objects](/kanvas/designer/canvas-objects/#object-menu).
