Manage Your Account
Edit your profile, change your password, link GitHub or Google sign-in, and delete your account, with what each change does and what it leaves behind.
Your account is your identity across every organization you belong to. These guides cover the settings that belong to you, and the subscription that belongs to the organization you administer. For how accounts relate to organizations, sign-in methods, and roles, read the Users concept.
The account area has four tabs: Profile, Preferences, Subscription, and Plans. Each tab opens only for a user who holds its permission. Without the permission, the tab shows a permission-denied view.
| I want to | Go to | Permission needed |
|---|---|---|
| Update my name, email, avatar, tagline, or social links | Manage Your Account | View Profile |

| Sign in with GitHub or Google as well as my password | Manage Your Account | View Profile |
| Delete my account | Manage Your Account | Delete Account |
| Choose which emails I receive | Set Notification Preferences | View Profile |
| See, start, upgrade, or cancel my organization’s subscription | Manage Subscriptions and Billing | View Subcription, plus Organization Owner or Organization Admin |
The default user role holds View Profile, Reset Password, and Delete Account, so every member can manage their own account. The permission is spelled “View Subcription” in the permission list; use that spelling when you search for it.
